Job Agencies In Finland; Getting A Job In Finland From Abroad. Agencies And Websites To Find English Jobs in Finland

June 16, 2020

These days, there are a host of job agencies who assist in securing jobs abroad. In Finland, for example, these job agencies come really handy especially since it can get quite challenging to get a Job in Finland as an applicant from abroad….

Applying to work in Finland from abroad used to be an almost impossible thing to achieve. But all that has changed now. It is possible to secure a good job in Finland right from your own home country. Initially, you needed to first arrive in Finland and then try to look for a job while you are here. This method wasn’t so successful because of the numerous challenges associated with it. Only a few had succeeded in grabbing jobs while they were in Finland on a visit.

Today, the music has changed due to the growing economy. Many companies now look for talents outside of the shores of their domicile. In addition to that, some companies have expanded overseas, while a host of others have business partners abroad. Therefore, it is very common to see companies exchanging workers and employees on short or long term work abroad engagements.

So yes, the world is changing, and so is the economy. You can work almost anywhere in the world (even without job transfer through a company) as long as you are able to secure those jobs. All you need to do is apply and make sure you meet all the necessary requirements stipulated by the company in the vacancies announcement.

I recently uploaded a video about How to work in Finland, 6 different ways, Where To Apply, What You Need, How much is Basic Salary, and some Tips For Getting Good Job in Finland. . After this post, you can click below to check it out.

These days, there are a good number of recruitment firms or job agencies who assist in securing jobs abroad. In Finland, for example, there are a lot of job agencies who specialize in assisting job seekers, both in Finland and abroad, to apply for and secure jobs in Finland. These job agencies come really handy and useful especially when it can get tedious and quite challenging to get a Job in Finland as a Foreigner.

Here is a detailed video about this where I answered a question I have received frequently, which is; Do Foreigners Find It Hard To Get A Job In Finland? What Are The Reasons Why, plus Tips On How To Get Job In Finland. In the video, I discussed the reasons many Foreigners find it hard to get a job in Finland, including some personal or individual factors that come to play and also affect job search or influence the difficulty of getting a job in Finland. I also shared some Tips that I gathered from my research and discussions with other foreigners, that will increase an applicant’s chances of securing a good job in Finland.

Post continues below. Once you are done reading this post, you can click below to watch the video.

Below are a list of some Job agencies in Finland for jobseekers living in Finland as well as overseas. Most of these Job agencies are free of charge, and they will send you updates whenever there is a vacancy you qualify for. The good thing is that once you have filled out your application with them, applying for a job becomes extremely easy. Just click a button and that is all.

Okay, I need to quickly add a disclaimer here. This is NOT a sponsored post. I am talking from experience and All opinions are 100% mine. In the video I mentioned above, I gave my own personal experience with one of these agencies. So make sure to watch the video after this post.

First, let me quickly mention below some Top Job Agencies or job sites in Finland and how they may or may not be of use to you depending on your location and language skills.

Barona, Monster, Duunitori, StaffPoint, Smile, Studentwork, Oikotie, and a host of others are some of the job agencies or job sites in Finland. Some of them also operate or have branches in other countries within and outside of Europe. There are lots of vacancies on their websites in numerous job areas, including,  Technology, Installations, Education, Customer service, Sales, Engineering, Real estate, Wholesale/Retail, Hotel managements, and so on. There is also an option for you to leave an Open application. So you just leave your details and CV online and when there is a position that suits you, they will contact you. They also notify you via email of new vacancies on the website (that is, if you subscribed to the Newsletter).

The only downside in my opinion (something they all have in common) is that their website is in the local language. For example, if you visit the Barona Finland website, the site will be in Finnish. And if you visit the Barona Swedish website, the site will be in Swedish. The same goes for all the other Barona sites in the European countries I mentioned above. Although there is a Language change button where you can click to read or access the site in English, but when you get to the Open jobs, or vacancies page, the vacancies are in the local language. So this may not be very useful to someone who doesn’t understand the language or is applying from another country.

This is a major challenge if you don’t understand the language, and you can’t really rely on google translate for accurate translations sometimes. Even if you are able to translate the vacancies into English, most of the positions require fluency in Finnish language before they can hire you (you need to provide proof somehow if you are not a native Finn). So it doesn’t really help you much in the long run if you don’t speak or understand Finnish language.

So below are the job agencies where you will find Jobs in English for English speaking Professionals, plain and simple. Of course there a handful other smaller job agencies in Finland where you can find vacancies in English (for example iagora.com, and xpatjobs.com). However these job agencies mentioned below are the popular ones where you are sure to find more job opportunities or options.

Job Agencies or Sites Where You Can Find Jobs In Finland For English Speakers From Abroad

Adecco: With over 5,200 branches globally, they call themselves the world’s largest operator in personnel services field. The websites is both in English and Finnish. Setting up a job seekers profile takes about 10 minutes. However, majority of the vacant positions are advertised in Finnish even though you chose to view the website in English. The good thing however is that there are a couple of job positions in English for English speakers.

Although they are very few, they do exist on that website and that is why the site is making it to this list. The tricky thing though is that even those job positions for English speakers still has it in Finnish first and then in English down the page. And it really doesn’t specify forehand that English is the requirement, not Finnish. So you just have to scroll the vacancies page to find the English specific jobs.

Rekrytointi: Here, you will find vacancies as well as training opportunities. What makes them stand out from other job agencies is their vast international network. So here you will find links to other job agencies in other countries all under the Network.com platform. Rekrytionti has their main office in Finland but they have vacancies all over Finland. The best part is that on the website, you will find many vacancies in English and some of them has no Finnish requirements. Even those that has language requirements to be both English and Finnish, can still be accessed in English. So you don’t need google translator if your Finnish isn’t so strong.

In addition, most of the vacancies limited their language requirement to just one language. So it is possible to see a vacancy which requires that the applicant speaks Finnish or English, not both compulsorily. There are lots of jobs available on this site, ranging from University Researcher, to even newspaper delivery at night. In my opinion, this is one of the best and well equipped job agencies in Finland.

Jobs In Finland: This is not a Job agency, but rather part of a governmental project sort of. This is a temporary initiative to promote employment based immigration to Finland. It aims to aggregate job openings that don’t require Finnish skills, serving employers in Finland and job seekers in Finland and abroad. The website was launched early this year, and there are quite a good number of vacancies there for English speaking professional.

Like I said, it is not an agency but it is making this list because of the official nature of the website, and also because many people have found it to be useful and a good call on the part of the Finnish government. I spoke in detail about this website and also showed how to apply for a job in this video, so please click here to learn more about the job site and how to use it.

Jobs in Helsinki: It is part of the JobsinNetwork board which covers over a 100 countries and cities in many continents, including Europe, Africa, and Asia. Jobs in Helsinki board comes quite handy if you are planning to live in Helsinki area. On the website you will find a handful of jobs for English speakers.

Neuvoo: This is an international site where you can search for jobs in over 70 countries. When you type in Finland as the location, you will find a lot of jobs on the site where Finnish language is not a requirement. Most of the vacancies are open to applications from other countries.

Finally, I can’t end this post without mentioned the Job vacancies website by the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy (TE Office). Although the job vacancies are advertised in Finnish language, it is worth a try, with the help of google translator. Check it out here.

The process of job search is never an easy one, but determination surely pays off. So don’t give up. Keep applying because you never know when the heavens will smile down at you. When it is your time, it is your time and nothing can change it.

Good luck on all your applications.

Love,

Olivia.
